The PoWA team has released version 5.1.2 of powa-archivist, the core extension of the PostgreSQL Workload Analyzer (PoWA). This update introduces a new feature allowing per-module retention, contributed by Marc Cousin. Previously, retention settings applied globally to all collected metrics; now, administrators can define different retention periods for individual modules. This flexibility helps manage storage more efficiently by keeping high-resolution data for critical modules while automatically purging less important data sooner.
For developers and DBAs using PoWA for PostgreSQL performance monitoring, this release means finer control over historical data. You can now prioritize retention for modules tracking specific workloads or queries, reducing disk usage without sacrificing insights. The feature is especially useful for large-scale deployments with limited storage or compliance requirements.
powa-archivist is an open-source project welcoming contributions via its GitHub repository. The full changelog and contributor list are available in the release. For more details, visit the documentation or download the latest version.
